This is Steve Vai's in the beginning as a solo artist, and was created in Stucco Blue, a pour out converted into a studio in Vai's former back garden. It is very contrary from many of his other albums, and is largely influenced ~ means of Frank Zappa. Flex-Able is not for example based around massive guitar arrangements and strip moments as the rest of his output from the 1990s onwards, by the exception of 'Leftovers' which is a selection and combination of bonus tracks and remasters from his sessions at 'Stucco Blue'.
